@Academic_owl @SophieLongley4 I feel that in bringing people together it allows them to form a community around the grieving process that helps them - but for those of us who are more private in our grief it just feels like something that has to be done before the grieving rather than an integral part of it.
@SophieLongley4 @88SharonChapman This is interesting; I think that funerals are absolutely for the people who are left behind and form a rite of passage that gives some marking point; & im not sure there is a “right” way to act at them? But I’m ND so maybe I’m missing the point 🙃
@SophieLongley4 I found that I don't if I have to do funerals - the stress of having to 'act right' puts of the grieving. For me they're completely pointless and make me uncomfortable, I've made it clear to people I will grieve in my own way and not put in a show for the sake of it.
@egstirling @SophieLongley4 Is it anticipated grief when one sees the decay and death in advance so has processed it already. Unexpected bereavement would be different.

@SophieLongley4 I think it's similar to hyperempathy in that we can feel things so deeply that it gets overwhelming and all-consuming and you have to switch it off to survive. I think there's also the element of some of us are always expecting things to go wrong, so when it goes wrong, relief.
@SophieLongley4 @Fox_pause83 I can relate. If something big changes and it's something you "should" feel sad about, I don't usually show it right away, but I'm aware there is always a chance that it will hit me all at once in either my next PMS days or a month later if that's passed.
I think the worst bit is I think some people would see it as rude, or as self-centred (if I bring the conversation to an anecdote based on my experience). I'm just super excited, but 2 steps ahead. I have to literally slow myself down and remember not everyone is the same.
