10 years ago I joined twitter. That means 10 years ago I had just started this healing journey. I don’t like the words healing journey, but I don’t know what else to call it. 10 years?!?!
I haven’t been on here much lately. To be honest I’m just plain sad all the time. Reading my twitter feed makes me sadder and I need to find a way out of this funk.
I managed ok. I’m now home. So glad that part is over!
I am having thyroid surgery on Monday, and am really worried about dissociating.
I have been struggling lately. Ever since they moved up my thyroid surgery to the end of November. I know the surgery will go fine. I don’t know what my problem is.
Done with baseball 😢 now I gain so much of my time back.. what do I do with myself?

If a part of me says something in therapy wouldn’t I remember or hear it?
Uh oh… worst sleep ever. Such a horrible night. Now I realized I took my day meds before bed last night. No wonder I feel like this. What do I do today? I have such a long busy day ahead.
Update: After years I think I found a medication that helps 🤗 the intensity of my anxiety has lessened. It feels really weird, and it’s like part of me is missing. I now have some hope that healing from this trauma may happen 🙂
Question: is it normal for a Psychiatrist to ask their patient which medication they would like to try? I have been seeing this Dr. for awhile now, and am on medication already. I have no idea how to answer her
Pushed myself this past week too much. Now I have a bad cold. It’s just another one of those times you wish you lived with someone, or had family close by. Help with the dogs would be nice
Prayers still needed. Macy is still not well. More tests are needed. It could be her back 😢
I don’t know how parents do it. If I worry this much about my dog? I don’t think I could handle having children.

When somebody won't communicate w/ us, Trauma Brain often fills in the gaps w/ assumptions about how we're in trouble or how they hate us. Survivors in recovery often need communication in relationships to be frequent & explicit to keep Trauma Brain's stories in check.
Odds are that when we go no contact with family we miss the fantasy family that we should have had, not the family that we actually had.
I don't care how "bad" your life was or wasn't according to somebody else's standards or opinions. If it wounded you, it wounded you, & you deserve compassion & support as you heal. "But was is REALLY that bad?" will f*ck w/ your head & NOT contribute to your recovery.

It's not that the client is "too complex" it's that you (or the service) do not have the resources to help them. We need to own the limitations of our practices and not locate the problem with the client.

You were not abused or neglected because you were a "bad" kid. I'm no metaphysician, but I promise you: the universe doesn't work like that. You did not develop PTSD or cPTSD or DID because you're "weak." I AM a trauma psychologist, & I promise you: that's not how that works.
My audit went well. Case worker was super nice. found out I have dental though I suspect it's not great coverage. Actually talked about returning to work. 2024 might be my year.
I really don't understand why we can't all just get along. We are all human beings no matter our religion, race, sexuality, sex, class, whatever differences we may have, we are all human beings. I genuinely cannot wrap my head around why we can't all live in harmony.

Please don’t tell patients “we have exhausted all treatment options” when you mean “we have exhausted the limited & insufficient treatment options are available to our overstretched & underfunded service, none of which were adequate for what you need” These are NOT the same.
