🥚 Preston's great egg rolling tradition, captured forever. In 1901, the pioneering filmmakers Mitchell & Kenyon turned their camera on the crowds gathered for Preston's famous Easter Monday egg rolling. Thousands packed the hillside, in Avenham Park smiling, waving, and enjoying one of Lancashire's most cherished traditions. Children would roll painted eggs down a hill and see whose could go the furthest without breaking. What makes this film so special isn't just the event—it's the faces.
