Throwing in some back as well. I’ve never done a pull up with weight on me so this was a first. I know it’s not good enough, but gotta start somewhere.
Also I found a perfect use for the trap bar I never use… @Rack_Row this is a perfect setup now that I have the right safety bars
Really cool moment this past week: received my official patent paperwork from the USPTO!
A few years ago I had an idea: what if we could train chest supported row in the weight room the same way we train bench: with heavy, % based progressive overload.
All strength coaches want a balanced push/pull ratio, but because there isn’t a good weighted row option in most weight rooms we usually only match volume, not intensity.
I started having my athletes row on boards across the safety arms. It worked, but caused some issues: bruised chests & scary moments where the boards almost slipped off.
So I came up with a design that would fix this & had a prototype built. Our guys loved it so much I decided to try and bring it to weight rooms everywhere.
Fast forward 2 years later & strength programs across the country have invested in our bench. It’s been a ton of work figuring out patents, LLCs, manufacturing, how to build a website etc. It’s also been incredibly rewarding seeing my work pay off in places like the BIG12, ACC, & NBA.
I love coaching & don’t ever plan to stop. But seeing the way God has used this process to grow my faith & character has been incredibly rewarding. I can’t wait to see what he has in store for the future.
Chest supported(seal) row should be a staple in every program.
Too many programs use high level progressions & %’s for bench press but treat rows like accessory work.
Chest supported row is literally bench press for the back, & you can program it exactly the same way.
If you run a weight room, great exercises don’t matter if setup is a pain.
Most coaches won’t implement chest supported rows because setup on boxes is dangerous, takes forever, & doesn’t make sense in large groups.
