Not only do we have a lot to contend with by being bipolar, apparently our life expectancy is 10 years less than ‘normal’ people. Other things we might contend with more is loneliness, poverty, health consequences of chronic smoking and more physical illnesses.
I’m surprised to hear that quite a few of the people I know with mental health conditions have been dropped by their cpns, psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals after they showed small signs of improvement. Some have relapsed. Have you had your support taken away?
Today was a good day. Today I went to Bath to go shopping. Now did I have a bit of a panic attack going there yes! Did I let it defeat me? No! I had a very nice time, I'm proud of myself. Because it's been hard for me to go to places these days.

There are 3 modern sports I want to watch in the Olympics (in Paris). Can’t wait for Olympic climbing, skateboarding and BMX cycling. Actually I’ll be very happy watching all of it. It’s on from Fri, 26 Jul 2024 – Sun, 11 Aug 2024. Looking forward to the opening ceremony!
I was in the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake. I was teaching when suddenly the room felt like it was on jelly - violent shaking. Scientists were not expecting a quake in the East. They were expecting the Great Tōkai earthquake which is due. There was a deep national sadness..

Anyone else had a religious or spiritual experience during your mental health crisis? What was it like? I became a Christian after I left my first hospital admission. It just seemed to make sense. Before I was an atheist but I found god during psychosis. So happy I found faith..
Is anyone here happy to receive a depot injection? I understand it’s clearly useful for people who do not take their medication properly such as forgetting to take it or refusing it. Or is it too invasive ?
If you’ve been in hospital for a mental health crisis, did you find that nurses spent most of their time watching patients roll cigarettes and then escorting them outside? Why are there no designated smoking areas? Smoking is really important when feeling ill but a time waster
I’m moving house from supported living to my own flat. I can’t wait but it’s been difficult setting up a new Gp, psychiatrist, community psychiatric nurse, social worker, psychologist, pharmacist etc It has been a tough few years since 2013, but things are on the up!

Sometimes it’s about perspective and outlook on life. I find it helpful to keep an open malleable mind, positive learning attitude, childlike curiosity: a Growth mindset! Since I adopted it is going really well at work. Also accept errors as part of the learning process.
Rightly or wrongly, GPs are the main clinician responsible for managing someone's bipolar. It's critical that they are properly funded.

It was really hard to start my thirties with a hospitalisation in the psych ward a scary diagnosis (Bipolar I) single, jobless, needing my parents support. I was ashamed. Today I am independent and have a stable situation, have a job, everything not perfect but progress is made!
@BipolarSafe if they ever offered me it immediately yes tho there were a couple meds left to try i think bt no one saw me or anything like doctors etc i don't know
One thing I like to do is read Manga, they are fun and easy to read. One series I am enjoying at the moment is One Piece, it's about pirates! 🏴☠️
since i heard abt this it made sm sense lol way u feel like u had the absolute shit kicked out of u at all times sheer stress etc &ime the physical stress of not jst substance use but chronic loneliness & not really being "in " society at all u can feel the physical toll of it
Not only do we have a lot to contend with by being bipolar, apparently our life expectancy is 10 years less than ‘normal’ people. Other things we might contend with more is loneliness, poverty, health consequences of chronic smoking and more physical illnesses.

@BipolarSafe I remember when I was a junior in high school my boyfriend (at the time) wanted to do something the same time I had therapy so I cancelled last minute and then received an email back from her saying I clearly don’t need therapy if I cancelled and then she cancelled on me

@BipolarSafe I agreed to discharge from CPA when I went into remission on the grounds that “you know where we are if you need us”. When I had a relapse they wouldn’t take me back under CMHT care. Just waiting to see if they will offer me anything for this acute episode
Today was a good day. Today I went to Bath to go shopping. Now did I have a bit of a panic attack going there yes! Did I let it defeat me? No! I had a very nice time, I'm proud of myself. Because it's been hard for me to go to places these days.

Don't think "I have no reason to be unhappy or #depressed." You don't need a reason. Allow yourself to be sad. And when you do feel happy, celebrate, but don't try to hold on to it too hard. Emotions are fleeting, they come and go. They are not your identity. #bipolardisorder

I don’t know why but I apprehend every social interaction that becomes a source of anxiety because I am always afraid to say or do the wrong thing! I keep on second guessing myself and overthinking during and after, this is tiring!
