Runners are creatures of habit. We run the same routes week in and week out. We know the distance, time and where to stop for coffee. A goal for you this week should be to try a new route. Run in the opposite direction. Explore. Took my own advice today..
Are there runners out there who actually enjoy going to the gym? The thing I love about running is the freedom it gives me to explore. To get outside and enjoy nature. Any minute spent in a gym is one less minute on the road.
I do most of my running on my own. But sometimes when I get a chance to run with friends I'm reminded of why it is such a great sport. Exercise, the outdoors and good conversation - a winning combo!
Calisthenics-related goals for 2024, posting here as a reminder to myself: 1. 20 pull-ups (current max is 13) 2. 40 push-ups (current max is 25) 3. 200 bodyweight squats (current max 100)
With two kids under 3, I've accepted the fact that a marathon PB is not on the cards in 2024. But the beauty of running is that there is always something to work on. So this year is all about speed, mobility and strength.
2023 wasn't my best year of running by a long shot. But no better way to bring in 2024 than with a 12km run. And more importantly, it's the start of a 2-year journey to a sub-2:35 marathon!
You have two choices: Option A: Stay at home, relax and watch Netflix. Convince yourself it’s a “rest day”. Option B: Get outside, go for a run, get some fresh air, explore. Option B every time! 60 minutes easy running this evening.
Feeling stuck? Go for a run. No phone No music No podcasts Just you, your thoughts, and your breath. It always works.
For easy run days I prefer to focus on time rather than distance. 90 minutes easy today. Followed that up with 50 walking lunges and pull ups.

I don’t always run with a group. When I do, I run in the back. I’m not interested in dragging anyone along, I prefer to push with encouragement. We don’t leave anyone behind, we level up together, we go further and longer this way. Go fast alone, go far together.
