Mistake pitchers make at lower intensity: Slowing down into release. This creates poor habits and can make you erratic. You want to ACCELERATE into release even at lower intent. To do this your tempo has to be slower from the get go to ensure lower velo. Rhythm remains key.

@PitchingCoachU It even starts as early as the pelvic tilt at peak leg lift, a slightly lower leg lift can change the pelvis positioning just enough. Crazy to see the mechanical changes but still performs at a high level through a long career. The best pitchers are the best compensators ☝️

Changing an arsenal doesn't happen in a vacuum. As we've been saying for years, chasing max sweep or max carry can both impact a pitcher's mechanics, sometimes for the worse (dropping/climbing slot, cross-body, etc.) Understand and monitor these tradeoffs when adding a pitch.

@PitchingCoachU I personally don’t see a big need to play summer ball in this scenario unless it’s in a high end collegiate league and it might open more doors for them (and they have a legitimate chance to impress).

@PitchingCoachU Innings vs pitches are different. 50 innings could mean 150 pitches, in which case there’s no problem playing summer ball for extra reps and looks on the circuit. 50 innings = 1000+ pitches on the other hand needs to be closely watched if they choose to throw more

@PitchingCoachU Not a college coach, but its fun and a different experience. Around different set of guys, you make some relationships and learn about life. Collaborate on getting better at your craft with like minded players.
@PitchingCoachU Sure can. Can do a lot in the fall. Its usually a mixed bag of training, competing, experimenting, and solidifying team values. Can individually and for the group decide how those prioritize.
