Hypothetical storm chasing target: Emporia, KS. Both KS and IA have similar uncertainties with upscale growth and thermodynamic environments. From a chasing perspective, give me the 20 knot storm over the 40 knots storm.
Since the word is now out, it is incredibly sad to say that the atmospheric science program at UW-Milwaukee is closing. It is infuriating that a large university will not support our small program let our program shudder. I am so thankful for our faculty that have worked (1/)

WATCH‼️ NEW VIDEO OF MARIETTA TORNADO We just got this viewer video as they just miss the tornado as they're driving away. This is the tornado that killed one person in Marietta and hit the nearby Dollar Tree distribution center. @OKCFOX bit.ly/3JBFF0a
All the debate about ratings...here's what is really important: For strong tornadoes, sometimes at DOD 4 and always at DOD 6 - a home is essentially uninhabitable. That means as low as EF-1 and most EF-2 damage sends people out of their homes.
UPDATE: after consultation with an engineering expert, we will be upgrading the Marietta tornado to a low-end EF4 tornado. Details coming in a PNS shortly. NO changes as of right now to the Sulphur rating. Still investigating. #okwx

Christina Bauer tells me she found this picture on her front porch in great condition. She believes it traveled 106 miles from Holdenville after the tornado to her home in Owasso. She believes she has found the owner and is working to return it.

The other half is because of our students. I admire them so much. It has been an absolute pleasure working with and learning from them as their advisor, teacher, or colleague. I hope that I have served them well, and I hope they know that I will always be their champion. (3/x)

So um… I’ve had this sitting in my phone for two years.
What a weird obsession some of #wxtwitter has with the arguing over tornado ratings. Ask the family that lost everything if they give a hoot about the rating of the tornado that took everything from them. Let the experts do what they do, and stop trying to armchair quarterback…
Reminds me of those PGA tour ads from a few years ago: “These guys are good.” Perfect? Of course not. (They’ll be the first to tell you.) But really good. Put another way: Tiger Woods had bad rounds. But Tiger in his prime is gonna beat most other players more often than not.
Tell me meteorologists are right only 50% of the time. Forecast busts make the headlines, but the victories are just as important to share. SPC 👏🏻

@VORTEXJeff @RadarScope It's a known bug with the beta version (I'm guessing you're running). I was told a fix is in work.
I have nothing but respect for NWS Storm Prediction Center and its forecasters. @NWSSPC is THE best severe wx forecast office in the world, full stop. 👏 👏 Their critics have clearly never spent a day in the hot seat. 🔥 🪑 🔥
