An interesting note:
The National Weather Service in Omaha, Nebraska seems to be one of the few offices partially using the *unreleased* revised EF scale to survey certain DIs. It will be interesting to see if they apply this scale to the surveys of yesterday's tornadoes or not.
Damage surveys are still in progress today. Our 5 survey teams are finding evidence consistent with at least EF-3 strength in some areas. The preliminary ratings will be shared as soon as we collect and analyze more data. We will provide additional details as soon as we can!
Important to remember the flooding threat for the severe weather area as well. As cells train over locations over and over again that threat will increase with time. While the main threat of wind, hail, and tornados is important its critical to monitor the rain threat as well.
April 27 is a date that is already traumatic for some people. While in a different part of the country, today we’re staring down the barrel of another significant tornado day, coming off the heels of a significant tornado outbreak yesterday. Try to be sensitive of that.
The morning surface analysis shows that a cold front (denoted by blue gummi bears) will catch up to a warm front (red gummi bears) resulting in an occluded front
(purple gummi bears) for increasingly wet & breezy conditions across Western WA today.

Tremendous work being put in by NWS Omaha now. 52 Local Storm Reports issued so far, ~7 minute average difference between LSR report timestamp and product issuance, 25 of those reports less than 2 minutes.
Full storm-following loop of the earlier tor near KOAX. Absolutely insane looking tornado -- you can even see a point where a merger into the rear flank seems to trigger a handoff of some sort (you can see the vortex "jump" near Bennington/Washington)
Landspout tornado spotted near Rusty Point on April 19th!
These events, while not rare, go mostly unnoticed due to our topographically diverse area.

WILD SIGHT: Check out this view over Oak Harbor today!
Our meteorologists say it's likely what's called cloud iridescence, where ice crystals in the cloud are diffracting the sunlight.
I love that he pointed out the EML starts around 800mb- 700-500mb is not always the best proxy for an EML, so make sure you do all parts of your analysis intentionally

me: finally, a day off!! i have so much to do!! gotta be productive!!
radar:
me: laying in bed and rotting is self care, and self care is productive ahead of an active stretch of weather and recovering from mids, so I'm being productive and i should stay in bed all day. cool.
Did anyone see the "jellyfish clouds" earlier today? Those form when there's mid-level instability that allows a very small convective shower to form, but plenty of dry air below it evaporates the rain before it reaches the ground! This evening's weather balloon shows that well.
