I set out a suitcase to pack for my flight later today and spotted my 3 year old crawling inside it to hide. I casually zipped it up, yelled "I'M OFF TO THE AIRPORT, EVERYBODY!", and carried it to the car. I've circled the block twice and my luggage hasn't stopped laughing.
I would never mock somebody for having a 9 to 5. That life isn't for me personally, but anybody who earns an honest and ethical living should be saluted, not torn down. We need more of that. Not less.
Today, most of our consumption is not need based but because of availability & accessibility. Now what brings us joy are things that we know we don’t need. We have traded our ability to be happy with what we need for what we can buy. Consumerism is no less than a drug addiction.

I think "successful" young people nowadays seem miserable and ungrateful because the success is earned too quick. It's not that they don't value their success so far - but it's just earned so quickly that it feels undeserved. Becoming successful (money/fame/time) is easier now…

I set out a suitcase to pack for my flight later today and spotted my 3 year old crawling inside it to hide. I casually zipped it up, yelled "I'M OFF TO THE AIRPORT, EVERYBODY!", and carried it to the car. I've circled the block twice and my luggage hasn't stopped laughing.
I would never mock somebody for having a 9 to 5. That life isn't for me personally, but anybody who earns an honest and ethical living should be saluted, not torn down. We need more of that. Not less.

Today, most of our consumption is not need based but because of availability & accessibility. Now what brings us joy are things that we know we don’t need. We have traded our ability to be happy with what we need for what we can buy. Consumerism is no less than a drug addiction.
