I just keep thinking about how only 7% of doctors are confident diagnosing Long COVID (4% confident treating it) and that people trust doctors to know what is wrong with them, so how many more actually have Long COVID in addition to the 65 million we know about?
I found some answers in @EurekaHealthApp Slack: the short version is they assessed it was expensive and unhelpful and wasn't active enough to justify their costs so they just shut it down. They got lots of feedback about it's value and are looking at bringing it back online!

Long Covid day 465. I just left my doctor’s office, and she doesn’t think I’ll ever recover. She only has one Long Covid patient who has 100% recovered. So yeah, I guess that was my life, done at 32, lol—so much for those super mild variants. Thanks for nothing, public health.
One big reason disability makes many uncomfortable is because we rely on others for help. We remind them that we need others to survive; that we can’t just individualize ourselves in every situation. Our country is so cut off from community and we remind them of the need for it.

It is hard to get many (most?) people to see things they have a stake in not seeing. If they see it - they might have to change their lives in some small way or take responsibility for some action or go against the norms of some group. Even if it is in their best interest.
This is one of the many reasons that otherwise well-informed people (including healthcare providers) dropped their guards. And it remains one of the primary reasons people think Covid is behind us. Because they can’t see it. They don’t see half the people carrying virus who show…
Five days post-scope procedure where neither nurse, gastroenterologist, nor anaesthesiologist were masked, and I think I dodged the bullet. I was wearing my trusty Drager 1950, aside from during the actual procedure.
Re: this asymptomatic aspect, it’s REALLY hard to : 1. Convince people it is a fact 2. Separate “asymptomatic” from “harmless”. I don’t know a way forward with people around me 🤷🏼♀️
Maybe the most important slide from @YaleSPH Many people tell me they definitely don't have Covid. 49% of Covid infections are asymptomatic & also, Covid symptoms can look different person to person & variant to variant. Unless you have done robust testing, you really don't know

The phrase “don’t panic” should be permanently retired in PH. It is mystifying & encourages deference to authority instead of validating reasonable fears. It encourages conspiratorial critiques. And it lost all credibility from repetition by Dems as well as by 45 during COVID

If we accept there are no good options re the US elections, then a plausible case exists that if you're looking for radical change and not imperial capitalist continuity, the tension and dislocation that would be wrought by a second Trump term would bring that change closer
