@mightbeautistic Honestly I think I just would not have gone to highschool
@mightbeautistic That being different is not a moral failing and that if I be myself, there will be people who appreciate that. Some people won't, but that's ok. My people are out there and I can find them. Also that it's ok to walk away. If something is making me miserable I can always walk away
@mightbeautistic I would tell my younger self that who he is and the way his brain works is great and he is beautiful. And that just because literally no one else in his life can see that does not mean it is not true.
@mightbeautistic That you do not have to be in cultures that bully you. There are tons of alternative schools/unschooling/healthy communities where bullying is simply not acceptable.

@LizPeecock @KatyElphinstone I think to be honest with therapies such as CBT or DbT they are all about telling people that the way they think or act is wrong. Eg if you are anxious or depressed it is because you are thinking or behaving wrong. That is not good either for autistic people or for NTs

@mightbeautistic That being different is not a moral failing and that if I be myself, there will be people who appreciate that. Some people won't, but that's ok. My people are out there and I can find them. Also that it's ok to walk away. If something is making me miserable I can always walk away
@mightbeautistic I would tell my younger self that who he is and the way his brain works is great and he is beautiful. And that just because literally no one else in his life can see that does not mean it is not true.

@mightbeautistic That you do not have to be in cultures that bully you. There are tons of alternative schools/unschooling/healthy communities where bullying is simply not acceptable.

When you don't you are Autistic or Sensory Sensitive, you are unaware of why you are feeling so rubbish, you don't realise its the lighting, the feeling of sweat trickling down your body or the internal symptoms that are triggering your distress. It increases the fear not knowing
My diagnostic report listed these factors as being problematic for mental health. Obviously, I have made the wording/description my own rather than copy what was written.

@mightbeautistic Bullies only behave the way they are taught. You are not able to teach a person lessons, they need to learn themselves. You are receiving pain they have not processed. Boundaries are important and do not feel good to enforce. We must protect ourselves with boundaries.

@mightbeautistic i’m not sure there’s any advice that would help. i grew up in the 70s and 80s. it was a vicious time. there was no mercy. *maybe* if i told myself that we’re autistic and our mom is abusive and not one single shred of the misery is our fault, at least i would have had a head
