Reposting this from last year for those who want a better understanding of the key culprit behind all of these elbow injuries.
A clip from last night's report on pitch counts & why they're not actually protecting pro pitchers. When everything's about chasing velo & throwing max effort, the ligaments can't hold. A great analogy that I got from @GlennFleisig comparing ligaments & tendons to rubber bands:

Like, we were set up for the PERFECT ENDING. UConn was going to win it or lose it, but it was in the players hands on the last possession. You can't call a foul there unless it's a Draymond Green chokehold. You just can't.
And it's not like Bueckers was wide open with the ball and would've immediately gone up with a shot, so the mini-bump wasn't going to affect the play. The ref's wild gesturing also was very look-at-me, like he wanted to be the show. That's all non-good.
My problem with that call is that the ref really had to be seeking it out to blow the whistle then -- and why would you do that?
NAAAAAHHHHHH!!! I ain’t rolling with that call.
Ah, yes, coming down to a wildly questionable illegal screen call in the last 10 seconds — just as we all hoped for.
