Oda-san as you honor me with your like and comment. As I have truly enjoyed your stories. Let me regale you with a story of my time in the raising sun. Please trust me as this relates to your story but possibility in the inverse. As you write in poetry, I will attempt to do the same. The year was 2017, and I am nearing the end of my two week trip. The last stop was Hiroshima and I have yet to try a true delicacy, the mighty and poisonous blowfish. In Hiroshima there is only two places that offer such a dish; and the one that speaks English was fully booked. I had no choice, I was to use Google translate and attempt fate. Of our group of 4, only 3 of us shall risk our lives. We arrived at the restaurant and to say we were under-prepared is an understatement. Google translate was a scabbard without the sword. Translating letters but not full words. The waitress who was 70+ years old offered no help as there no way to communicate with us. We were completely lost until a stranger saw our struggle. This stranger, who was enjoying dinner with her parents, spoke both English and Japanese and saved us from an evening of failure. While the waitress spoke no English she did everything in her power to make sure we had an enjoyable night. Wanted green tea she ran to the store and bought it, your glass of sake was never empty, the owner who was 80+ years old amused by the fact Americas were in her restaurant decided to make us home made rice balls. As we approached the end of the night our blowfish arrived. Cut perfectly we survived to tell the tale. As this was such an enjoyable experience we wanted to provide a tip. We knew this had to be done in a special way, as we knew you do not tip in Japan. We mustered our courage, thanked the waitress in Japanese, and handed her the paid bill with the cash tip inside. Now considering all this, did this bold barista deserve a tip especially since he did it in such a brash fashion?
