@DrHasMo @SalaryDr Agreed. There are certainly improvements to be made in training, particularly for HCOL areas, but pretending like this is any different than an apprenticeship does a disservice to everyone.

@linemonkeymd Honestly don’t know other than some hearsay about admins going to support staff and patting themselves on the back about the bang up job they did losing 4 excellent VIRs (I was not one of them). Those rads opened their own practice right down the street and are happy.

@linemonkeymd University of South Alabama lost their IRs almost a year ago and only recently recruited an IR. Didn’t lose trauma designation. Did lose an excellent IO service. Can only imagine the whole deal cost them 10s of millions in revenue.

@AustinBourgeois @ramposham How is the reliability? I realize the 20 year old OECs are workhorses, but my experience with GE equipment recently is…AWFUL. We have a GE magnet that is pretty amazing, but the rest of the recently installed GE equipment is best described as hot garbage.

@ciirarref I agree that looking at your own images is important when clinical concern is discordant, because somewhere in the stack of 200+ exams being read today with button click indications/history is this kyphotic one view portable chest radiograph on a walky talky patient.
