Interesting how many people are upset at the suggestion that they help their patients get better care by taking an extra 20 seconds to give a good clinical indication while ordering a study.
Hot take: Primary teams should be required to write at least one full sentence for the clinical indication to order a CT or MRI.
We don't have a dentist on call so we got you the next best thing: a radiologist

Hi Lisa. When you put “per radiologist” as the ordering reason, it delays care and usually ends up causing more confusion. The “reason for exam” is used by insurance companies to accept or decline authorization for imaging. I would suggest putting the “reason for the order” into the exam- ie, what symptoms the patient is having or what pathology you are evaluating, to expedite processing of these exams for your patients. Happy to drop by your office and discuss further. I think it might be helpful for you to know how the sausage is made (at least in radiology 😊). Ally
