The Tesla Roadster launch is wild. It sits just outside the norm of what your brain considered reality. If you're the majority of people, thinking about cars was not something your brain spent time on. You had a recording of what that system looks like. But you see this, and it pushes hard against it, and now your brain has to reconcile it. If you saw the launch, and at certain points you thought "is this real?", that's your brain having to rewire what it thinks reality looks like. I guess this is where the expression mind blown comes from. A mind blown moment. 🤯

something that keeps bothering me is how some people see slop as something that is happening to them, like they're some kind of helpless bystander powerless to do anything about it excuse me but you are a software engineer, you literally learned how to make sand think and make computers do your bidding?! and now you can't do anything about it? please the 2 things you should know to cut through all the noise: 1. you need to give your agent a way to verify its own work (i just posted about this so won't rehash) 2. your codebase is memory the 2nd is not new either, we have always had lint rules, compilers with good diagnostics and strong type systems, LSPs, etc to help us write better code. there is no difference when agents write the code instead, you just need more of them, and stronger ones. forget rules and skills. you can add those later. yes, your codebase is a form of memory to agents! agents love extending what already exists. so every nit and every annoyance you've ever seen, every mistake and bad pattern you observe from agents, needs to turn into a constraint, or the agents will just keep repeating those same mistakes like a virus in your code. then you keep observing and repeating this process until your codebase is locked down enough that even agents with little context can one shot a high quality PR. an even better direction is to refactor/rewrite your code such that agent anti-patterns become categorically impossible. use type systems to your advantage, use libraries/frameworks that reduce the architectural search space, or heck, create your own framework like we did for grok bot and design high quality primitives and well thought out APIs

the slop conversation is so one sided, it's not just that you can produce more code you can also observe, debug, and refactor more code even if the code is slop you have such good tools to deal with it. even if you write code manually, it's still 100x easier to maintain it

Because outputs are hard, and they didn’t have to. Knowing what to build, what a solution looks like, are difficult problems. Programmers were mostly given those in the form of specs / requirements by people who thought about that. What was left was work and inputs to work. Outputs are hard. There’s another set of skills to do that.

I got some issues with this. The $132m/year is not real at all. Closer to $3m at today's prices, and as low as $1.2k within a year. Yes, $132m -> $1.2k. Hear me out. 1. The price listed is not accurate at all. $11m/month is just wrong. Real "api cost" is prolly $100k-$500k

SNAP is one of those companies that is best to stay away from investing in. Aren’t they massively diluting and constantly selling shares? If all outstanding shares get sold that’s not really a message that management cares about the company or shareholders. It’s just there for their own wealth. All investors who bought SNAP basically lost money. Stock is at all time low. I always find it funny when people talk about SNAP in any way related to a success story. It’s only a success story if you get compensated in stock because you work there.

It’s wild how quick the jumps are between the model providers based on model capabilities. Everyone on the Claude Code and Opus 4.8 train, then big switch to Codex and GPT 5.x, now feels like everyone is back on Opus 5.5. A lot of the meta harness tools out there make this transition quite painless because they wrap the respective coding agents.
