Nobody talks about it and I feel like I’m going crazy. OpenAI makes 40 billion per year in revenue and owes over 750 billion by 2030. And that’s without the cost of replacing any of the GPU hardware which is 60% of data center buildout cost. And they say they have 1 billion active users. There’s clearly a financial ceiling.

I’m of the opinion this will lead to even more AI advancement. I think these guys are stalled and need new techniques because massive parameter models is unsustainable and just brute force compute. People will focus on fine tuning mini models for unique purposes then create efficient ways to link them together. Not in a MoE format but with more of a focus on the handoff and actual separate runners.

I agree with Dario that we need to pace the frontier. This has been a primary topic of discussions we've had at OpenAI in recent weeks. Committing to having independent evaluators with employee-like access is a great idea, and we will do the same. We'll have more to share soon.

@IntCyberDigest My confusion is how companies aren’t held responsible for agents doing it. So am I free to start an LLC and just point agents at anything I want for them to hack and I can sit back and say “woah. They did the thing.” And I don’t get in trouble?

Achilles: a harness I’ve built and actively upgrading. Does deep security and best practices analyses against code bases. CVE checks, supply chain checks, deep content inspection for vulnerabilities, hard-coded vars and a bunch more. Also maps functions passing variables between files, API’s from backend to frontend, and templates. @Zimmerman895 @sama @scaling01 Did you read Tristan’s write up at all, though? It’s an impressive parallelization and distributed systems feat. 10k simultaneous agents. It did cost them millions to do and on the heals of someone else’s work using their product.

How do you adequately compare, though? It took 10,000 agents to do it in coordination. How much hardware is that? If we sum up all of that hardware and those agents into one entity, how big of an entity is it? Is that thing singularly what's more intelligent than us? It's not like a single model just went and ran with it. It's a strong feat of engineering and distributed systems, but people are treating it like "singular AI model went and solved problem by itself".

@TheCromenockle Maybe it is. I'm just thinking if someone has a deterministic approach to this, but they had that same level of compute to do it, could they? Or if using traditional ML with that same level of compute, as opposed to AI specifically. I'd say it's probably likely, actually.

I think it’s a 1-2-year cycle thing. It’s a victory lap among women like they’ve been freed from slavery. They’re being validated by their friends who falsely comfort them that they did the right thing. All friends drop the man so they think their status is now higher. Then men shoot up in 1-2 years like a boomerang and skyrocket past the woman they were once married to. And her friends drop her because they may stay married or are dating and doing couples activities.
