I was invited to work on a spacecraft incident investigation. Within minutes I realized I had nothing to add, no new insight. It was not a reusable rocket. An expendable spacecraft is just not part of my wheelhouse. Also, expendables suck and have to be expensive. So many details…

@Robotbeat Unfortunately being right before everyone else isn't a guarantee of success. In my experience it's a great recipe for taking all the arrows in your back so you can watch your friends step over your corpse to success after the mainstream has caught up to your "brilliance".
@dmasten I'm somewhat not surprised to be honest. When you financialize an engineering company, you'd expect inertia to carry things for a while, with problems building up over time.
