Antarctica is colder and more icebound today than at any point in the past 5,000 years. Research by Hall (2023) found that West Antarctica cooled by more than 1.8C between 1999 and 2018. Satellite data confirm continent-wide cooling, as do multiple glacier studies. Piccini (2024) found the Collins Glacier was 1km farther back 6,000 years ago and began re-advancing about 1,000 years ago, which is clear evidence of cooling since the Medieval Warm Period. Even the biology of the continent documents this shift. A millennium ago, the Ross Sea hosted around 200,000 elephant seals as far south as 78 degrees. Today, those colonies are gone. They disappeared as the region froze over: too cold and ice-choked for breeding or foraging. The Hall paper concludes: "The last few centuries, including the present, represent the coldest, iciest conditions in the post-glacial period." Modern Antarctica is not warming, it's freezing.

Greenland was ice-free 100,000 years ago, when CO2 was at pre-industrial levels. Scientists have known this for decades. Nuuk, the island's capital, hasn't warmed in a century. Since the 1990s, the island has actually been cooling. Back during the Medieval Warm Period, western Greenland was 2C warmer. In fact, ice cores reveal Greenland is colder today than for most of the past 10,000 years. Melt runoff is far lower than climate models claim, as much as 58% less. And most recently, snowfall during the 2024-25 season came in far above the long-term average. Greenland's ice tells a story of natural cycles, not man-made catastrophe.

It might seem hypocritical that Variety praises Moana for respecting Polynesian culture while attacking you for wanting Nolan’s Odyssey to respect Greek culture. But there’s actually a consistent moral through-line: They just hate White people.

This is a lie. The Arctic (north of the 80th parallel) actually had its coldest June on record (since 1958) according to data from the Danish Meteorological institute (DMI). June averaged 2.20°C below the 1958−2002 average. 🔗 ocean.dmi.dk/arctic/meant80… The Arctic has warmed in the annual mean, yes, but not during the month of June.

It is July 2026, and Western Arctic ice coverage is holding at 94% - the highest early July reading since 2013. The region covers about 1.3 million km2 and includes the waters leading into the Northwest Passage - the sector often used to sell the "opening Arctic" scare story. But 2026 is running as one of the strongest ice years in the Canadian record back to 1981. High arctic temperatures, north of 80N, are still struggling to rise above freezing even into the second week of July. In 2026 the melt season threshold has barely arrived which is unprecedented in record books dating back to 1958. Western Arctic ice is at a 13 year high. The High Arctic has never been colder. This is not being reported on.

Rent control is a stunning policy. The literature, the experts, and the repeated experience of reality all stand undivided in saying it's bad. But the public loves it. It's insanely popular. It's basically a 75:25 issue and voters want more of it.

This is why Bastiat defined the state as “that great fiction by which everyone tries to live at the expense of everyone else.” Lobbying and corruption aren’t aberrations. They’re the logical conclusion of a law that plunders. 7. The title is the whole argument: Bastiat isn’t describing what the law is. He’s describing what it’s supposed to be – and showing, relentlessly, how far the thing calling itself law has drifted from that. Real law protects. Everything else wearing that name is organized force and theft in disguise.

Michael Crichton is such a fascinating figure and it is a goddamn shame he died so young This guy got into Harvard Medical School and said "actually, I want to write stories" so he wrote one of the most harrowing long short stories, the Andromeda Strain. This guy was addicted to research. He read scientific journals for fun and researched everything that captured his interest. He was curious and skeptical. He thought hard about the implications of technology all the time. And, instead of being a dork and writing a blog, he wrote entire novels warning about the dangers of emerging technologies. And they were great! He wrote a `Prey` about the dangers of combining AI with nanobots 24 years ago. It's tremendous. You could publish it today and it would be relevant. I miss him. I miss technically competent authors who can spin a good yarn while informing the reader about how technology is changing the world. Crichton was a generational talent and we are poorer for his absence.

During July 1860, Manhattan, Kansas observed 25 days with high temperatures ≥100°F. Only July 1934 exceeds that with 27 days. Temperatures peaked on July 9th, 1860 reaching an incredible 115°F. That would only be tied on July 24, 1936 and broken less than a month later on August 13th. If this occurred today, the frauds writing for the @WWAttribution would be 100% certain that your Honda Civic is to blame.

The original Hockey Stick was falsified by the endless work of Steve McIntyre and Ross McKitrick. You can read all about it at Steve's blog. It suffered from the same problems the Mann study had, plus a hilarious upside-down use of one of the proxy datasets. I deconstructed that paper in my post below.
