Robots are coming for one of agriculture's most delicate jobs. Picking berries! 🍓 This is Fieldwork Robotics' Fieldworker 1 platform, designed to autonomously harvest raspberries at speeds comparable to human workers. That might sound simple, but berry picking is one of the hardest challenges in agricultural robotics. The robot needs to identify ripe fruit, avoid damaging fragile berries, and operate efficiently in a constantly changing environment. Fieldworker 1 uses custom AI systems and spectral analysis to assess ripeness and is designed so that a single operator can supervise multiple robots in the field. Agriculture continues to face labor shortages across many regions, while growers are under pressure to improve productivity and reduce waste. That's creating a strong demand for automation solutions that can work alongside existing operations. Fieldwork is already running trials with Costa Group, one of Australia's largest fruit growers, and joins a growing group of companies proving that robotic harvesting is moving from research projects into commercial deployments. Los silos de granos parecen inofensivos… hasta que conoces el riesgo que esconden. Cada año, agricultores pierden la vida al entrar en silos para deshacer atascos o nivelar el grano. El peligro no es solo quedar atrapado. Cuando el grano comienza a moverse, se comporta como arena movediza: una persona puede quedar enterrada hasta la cintura en pocos segundos y completamente sepultada en menos de un minuto. Además, pueden formarse puentes de grano huecos que colapsan al pisarlos, o acumularse gases y polvo que aumentan el riesgo de asfixia o explosiones. Por eso se desarrolló el Grain Beetle, un robot diseñado para hacer ese trabajo sin poner vidas en peligro. Este pequeño robot recorre la superficie del grano dentro del silo para: • Nivelar el grano y distribuirlo de forma uniforme. • Romper costras y acumulaciones antes de que provoquen bloqueos. • Favorecer la circulación del aire, ayudando a conservar mejor la calidad del grano almacenado. • Reducir la necesidad de que una persona entre al silo durante las operaciones de mantenimiento. Puede parecer una máquina sencilla, pero representa un gran avance en seguridad agrícola: sustituye una de las tareas más peligrosas del trabajo en los silos por una solución automatizada. A veces, la innovación más importante no es la que produce más, sino la que logra que todos regresen a casa sanos y salvos al final de la jornada.

One pattern I find useful for working with LLMs is a nice long ramble session. Sometimes the LLM needs more bits to understand what you're trying to achieve, but you're too lazy to type them. In these cases I like to lean back, switch to /voice and just ramble for like 10 minutes, total mess, anything goes, full stream of consciousness. Sometimes I declare it up top, something like "switching to speech recognition sorry for any typos...". Sometimes I turn it into a small interview of a few turns. But I find that the LLMs are somehow very good at reconstructing long incoherent rambles and often their echo of your own tangle of thoughts comes out quite a bit cleaner than what you started with. The result is that you improve the mind meld and have to correct things less from that point on.
