You always get these kinds of reflexive “where are the free speech defenders” tweets when something coded as left is canceled. I searched X, and as usual it wasn’t hard to find liberal/centrist people complaining about this or retweeting complaints about it.

The court has signaled its interest in the claim that the word "person" in the state const applies the moment an egg is fertilized. That might mean state laws permitting abortion but punishing homicide would be seen to deny that person equality/due process

I’d like to think that killing foreign aid workers from the US, UK, Poland who were feeding the starving would be a serious incident but unfortunately “Israel is allowed to kill anyone they want” is an important rule in the rules-based international order

I have news! I'm writing a book and @wwnorton has greed to publish it. The book will tell the story of how the laws that we’ve adopted to keep government honest have stymied American progress. It'll come out in early 2026, god willing and the creek don't rise.

Wristbands are being used to identify anti-Israel students at @UCLA so that they are allowed to enter Royce Quad, Royce Hall, and Powell Library. Some students are allowed in and out, others are kept out. This is ILLEGAL and UCLA is not just tolerating it but facilitating it.
This is absurd. It is not consistent with what a university is supposed to be.

This kind of "permission slip culture" is exactly why we need permitting reform at every level of government
Today at the local park with my 5 kids, I was told I needed a permit to be there with a group of more than 5 people. I said that they were my own kids and he said I still needed a permit!

I’m all for new tent encampments, but before you build them you should need to engage with the stakeholders in a series of community meetings, have some design review, and ensure that the tents align with the existing character of the community.
An old adage says the best way to prove a stick is crooked is by laying a straight stick down beside it. In my 31st Scheme speech, we'll look at how ethics violations by most federal officials are handled and compare it to SCOTUS. You’ll find the SCOTUS stick isn’t very straight.
Sen Tom COTTON is also preparing a messaging bill that would block anti-Israel protestors from student loan forgiveness
I wonder if the people who do this realize how much it undermines the protests in general. I think the protests are more effective when they are civil, peaceful, and respectful of others.

And, of course, Yale has required DEI statements for graduate student applicants (a practice recently made optional for departments) and for professor applicants (still). This is an ideological litmus test for access to our campus, too. thefire.org/research-learn… | @TheFIREorg

The problem with the otherwise commendable statement by President Salovey is that the students’ impulse to have a litmus test is part of a broader pattern of such actions at Yale (violating its liberal tenets). We have procedures and bureaucracies that do just this -- which may…
The background for this statement is pro-Palestinian protests and certain recent actions by some protestors. For the removal of doubt, I wholly support the right to protest and am sympathetic both to Israel and the civilians suffering horribly in Gaza. I have no problem with…
