This is one of my favourite CPD phonics resources. When you see 'phonics skills and sub-skills' in this format, people may more readily appreciate the phonics skills and sub-skills involved for teaching the alphabetic code and the alphabet - for reading, spelling, handwriting:
It's useful to know which sound/spellings are important enough to teach and which can be learned on an as needed basis. These percentages 👇come from Hanna et al. (1996) research in which the sound/spelling appeared in the 17,000 most frequently used single & multisyllabic words.
