Exactly!! I own that my comment might have flirted with “Infantilization” but as for the label of “misogynist,” it’s unwarranted. I critique men and women alike when they’re missing the mark, and my standards don’t shift based on gender. …well, I’m actually harder on men. Ironically, it seems like the only one making this about gender is this chick. (Irony intended) Labeling every pointed critique toward a woman as “misogyny”not only diminishes the term’s real weight but assumes motives where none exist. Modern day version of “crying wolf.” So if she’s looking for sexism here, it might be worth re-examining her own perspective. When people misuse accusatory terms, particularly those as profoundly charged as ‘misogyny,” it erodes their significance and dulls their impact. This habitual misapplication not only dilutes the term but also risks desensitizing us to its true weight. If we continue to use such words inaccurately, we risk creating a world where genuine instances are met with skepticism and indifference, simply because the term has been too often misused. …again, a modern version of “crying wolf.”

Sure, the timeless wisdom that a man’s strength is somehow bound to his refusal to experience joy! Truly, I must be missing out by taking an hour or two for personal pursuits, given that I clearly should be dedicating every waking moment to something objectively ‘productive.’ I’m sure men throughout history became wise and resilient by meticulously avoiding anything that could possibly be interpreted as “self-pleasure.” And as for time: yes; I do happen to have some. This isn’t the result of “idle hands,” but rather a product of choices that have given me both the resources and the freedom to balance hard work with moments of enjoyment. My decision to go surfing was about challenging myself, connecting with nature, and simply recharging. Somehow, though, you’ve decided that it’s not only a waste of time, but that it’s politically significant. To be clear, my personal choice to surf has absolutely nothing to do with ‘this economy’ or any political angle. Not every action needs to be politicized or serve some higher economic purpose. That’s not weakness; that’s simply life. If you’re eager to martyr yourself in service of some abstract purpose, go right ahead. I prefer a philosophy of balanced purpose, one where I can invest in both meaningful pursuits and experiences that refresh my mind and body. But please, do continue insisting that real men are defined by their ability to deny themselves any enjoyment. I’ll be out on the water, finding purpose in a life that’s well-rounded, strong, and refreshingly politics-free, the only real negative being adults like you that say extremely ignorant stuff on the Internet. While I’ve encountered many responses that miss the mark, yours truly stands out: masterpiece of misguided logic and flawed reasoning. It’s as if, among all the missteps, your reply managed to distill the purest essence of absurdity. In the vast sea of stupid ass replies, yours shines brightest as the absolute epitome of social media stupidity. Quite an achievement, really. Yes, if a person, regardless of gender, has trouble understanding a concept that should be clear to them by now, I might offer a “sippy cup” or perhaps they need an explanation drawn out in crayons , to grasp it. This comment was directed at perceived lack of understanding, not at gender. In fact, I’ve used similar expressions with men who offered equally misguided opinions; male or female, if you say something stupid during discourse with me, I’m going to call you out on it. By reducing any critique or challenge to a gender-based bias, genuine instances of misogyny are diluted, and a double standard is established where men are unfairly assumed to act out of bias or condescension. True equality in discourse requires that ideas be evaluated on their own merits, independent of gender. Presuming misogyny where none exists not only stifles open dialogue but can foster an environment where men’s perspectives are dismissed solely because they come from men, which is, at its core, a form of prejudice… misandry. Not every critical remark made toward a woman is inherently misogynistic; generalizing in this way is neither constructive nor accurate. It would be like calling me racist for criticizing someone’s thinking solely because they belong to a different ethnic group. The issue here is the flawed logic, not the identity of the person expressing it. If you tell me that “everything is about politics,” or misuse vocabulary, especially a term which is accusatory, because you’re so tied to a current hot button vernacular, I’m going to assume you lack the ability for any productive conversation. Plain and simple: I called someone stupid and questioned their ability, as an adult, to grasp concepts adults should be able to; gender was never considered, nor a factor.
