Marginal & non-arable land is a resource ruminants are uniquely adapted to utilise and uocycle to high quality, nutritious protein. This land is part of our broader resource pool for global food security and ruminants are a part of the solution that improves resource efficiency.
This graph is a reminder, just how important ruminant livestock is for a country like Australia. Over 50% is marginal land, used for grazing and 4% for crop production. (Note, most of the marginal land can not be used for arable crop production due to poor soil & lack of water.)
If you want to catch fish, fish where the fish are. If you want to address GHG emissions...
An important reminder of who the 800lb gorilla is in the climate debate: all global GHG amount to 49 Giga tons. Of that amount, 37 Gt stem from fossil fuels (coal, oil and gas).
