An ADHD diagnosis led to a combination of methylphenidate, olanzapine, “stabilizers”, benzos, etc., forced admission, and suicide attempts. A good psychiatrist took him off it all. He is now healthy, 20 years old, a brilliant biology student.

Exactly! Whatever you feel is an effect of the drug, good or bad, whether the intent of treatment or not. E.g. Antidepressants far more reliably induce sexual dysfunction (>50%) than relieve "depression" (>15%). They are antisexualants with an occasional effect of mood uplift.
