Whereas I remain fully cognisant of the danger of the illusion of choice, I also fully embrace the concept of life’s abundance. There will be more, it may be better, it may not, but there will be more.

The older you get, the more you realize luck is mostly exposure. If you sit in the same place, have the same routine, talking to the same people, nothing new really happens. You have to tackle the world to win. Travel more. Talk to people. Try a breakfast spot. Post on social media. Start a side hustle or a hobby. The world rewards motion. You don't find opportunity sitting still.

The reason I thought I wanted to divorce my wife was simple: the house was always messy. I’m a man who loves a clean, organized environment, but my wife… ah! She always left things here and there, and it used to frustrate me. So on Sunday, November 2nd, in my annoyance, I handed her divorce papers. She didn’t shout. She didn’t argue. She just walked inside, picked a few clothes, and left—leaving our four children (ages 2, 4, 7, and 8) with me. I even told her never to come back. Then reality hit me the next morning. Monday, November 3rd — I woke up by 5am to prepare the kids because I needed to be at work by 8am. I was cooking, bathing them, dressing them—doing everything at the same time. Before I knew it, the food had burnt. I checked the time… 8am. I nearly fainted. As I was rushing everyone out, my 2-year-old said, “Daddy, poo poo.” What does she mean poo poo at this time?? Before I could react, she had already messed herself. I cleaned her up with tears in my eyes. We finally got to school by 9am. Then my 4-year-old said, “Daddy, my book is at home… on the chair.” I wanted to scream, but the teacher calmed me down. By 5pm, the school called. “Sir, why haven’t you come to pick your children?” I asked, “Has their mother not come?” They said, “No sir, school closed by 4pm.” Ah! So this is what my wife deals with every day?? I rushed from work, picked them up, and went home hoping to see her—but she was gone. Her phone? Switched off. As I was thinking of what to cook, all four of them shouted at once: “Daddy, help me with my assignment!” Assignment??? For FOUR children??? Two each?? Meanwhile, plates were still dirty. Uniforms unwashed. I was shouting every two minutes: “Stop that!” “Leave him!” “Bring that thing here!” “Don’t scatter that place!” I kept trying to call my wife—not to beg her o, but to tell her to come and carry her children. Her number refused to connect. Tuesday was worse. We reached school by 10am. Their proprietress was shocked—they normally arrive before assembly. She asked if they did their assignments. I just kept quiet. I had forgotten everything. At that point, I couldn’t do it anymore. I drove to my sister’s house to stylishly drop the kids. That’s when I discovered she had a home lesson teacher… A cleaner that comes every evening… And she only has three children—yet her husband still arranged help for her! I went home and called my mother-in-law. Then all my wife’s family members. I started begging them to beg her to come back. I even lied that the divorce was a prank—just a small “test.” I pretended to be the victim. My lawyer was just laughing at me when I told him to cancel everything. Only God knows how my wife handles all these things and still goes to work by 8am like nothing happened. Wednesday came… the kids didn’t go to school at all. Assignments were piling. I was finished. Finally, both families intervened, and my wife returned home. I told her everything. She just laughed. That day, my love for her increased from zero to 3 trillion percent. I immediately hired a lesson teacher to help with homework—anything to reduce her stress. Those four days traumatized me. I love my wife, abeg. God bless all mothers and wives. *#copied* *Always Respect your wives at all levels, what they do you can't even if you try so please learn to appreciate women for their roles in the home too. Worked 2 decades in in consulting. Made Partner in my 30s. Led teams of 100+ people. Run 9-figure client portfolios. Lived and worked in 4 continents. To grow fast, I had to learn practical ways to "narrate reality" to my leaders, without turning into the loudest guy in the office. 3 UNDER-DISCUSSED WAYS TO SELF-PROMOTE 1) Run "impact debriefs" after every meaningful piece of work, and make them impossible to ignore. A lot of people finish a project… and move on. They think "Well, my boss saw how hard I worked. They know." No they don't. After every major milestone (eg, a workshop, a turnaround, a nasty delivery save) write a one-page impact note and send it to the people who matter. Frame it as a story of change: what was broken, what you changed, what business risk or cost you removed, what decision you unlocked, etc Use numbers, but lead with stakes. An exec doesn't care about "I consolidated 3 misaligned streams" but they get interested with "I prevented a $4M regulatory exposure by getting 4 execs to align on a single approach"... The right people remember evidence. ⸻ 2) Translate your work into executive language, even if nobody asked you to. Early in your career you think work is about doing, but later you realize careers are built on how your work is interpreted. Every month, force yourself to rewrite what you did in a language an exec would respect: Risk reduced. Revenue unlocked. Delay avoided. Optionality created. Take the complex thing you did in the trenches and narrate it as cause-and-effect. For example: "I built a dashboard" is output. "I gave the CFO a single source of financial truth and eliminated three weeks of reconciliation activities per quarter" is impact. Then drip-feed that language in conversations, performance reviews, 1:1s, town halls. You are simply making reality visible at the altitude where decisions are made. IMPORTANT!!! If you do not narrate it, someone else will, and they will narrate themselves into your work. ⸻ 3) Build a small internal audience and teach them what you are learning. All right, this is the highest-leverage move. Once a quarter, run a short learning session inside your team or practice: teach a principle that emerged from your work. Explain the context and trade-offs, give details, so that people start seeing you not as a deliverable machine but as a person who creates understanding. Understanding is political capital. Executives hear about people who create understanding. Careers move around those people. ⸻ Let me be even more explicit: doing important work in silence is romantic, but in reality, silence gets mistaken for irrelevance. Be an high achiever, but don't be a QUIET high achiever. Narrate what is true: do it with restraint, precision, and respect for the craft. Do not stop believing you deserve a better life. First, before the 31st of December. Pick a paper and pen, not on your phone, and write down vividly what life you want. Write how you’ll get to that life, set measurable short and long-term goals. Then, roll up your sleeve and go to work. Be strategic. No other magic! Self-pity wouldn’t help. Begging for handouts can’t either Complaining about how life has been unfair to you will keep you in the same position. Let's work together! 💪
