@nxpatel @nikillinit A major pharmacy I worked with created an incredibly effective program using pharmacists as certified diabetic educators. Never could get reimbursement, so they shut it down. Incredible waste. Biggest issue was that health services don't traditionally get reimbursed by PBMs
@nikillinit canada has been a good case study for RPh expanded scope, especially rural - lots of data pointing towards favourable patient outcomes (minor ailments have become a major part of pharmd curriculum in recent years, dispelling the usual ‘but they’re not trained!’ quips)
@nikillinit Either way, very interested in #3. Pharmacists get training as educators for many chronic diseases, function as independent prescribers elsewhere, and trials to date look promising (bmj.com/content/380/bm…). Sorting out payment/incentives for pharmacist services would be tricky.
@nikillinit Really curious if the decision to shut down was driven more by a) the opportunity cost of using clinic real estate for retail sales vs. b) unprofitability of the clinics themselves (or both!).

Simple ex: Salary offers for experienced NPs can reach $250K to work in CA's Central Valley. Half the residents in Fresno or Kern counties are on Medicaid, which pays $82 for a 20-min visit. At that rate, you need ~15 visits per day just to cover the NP's salary & benefits.

Level 6 autonomous driving is being able to drive in India.
I always wondered how autonomous vehicles could work in the absolute chaos of driving in India- people don’t always follow the rules, humans and animals are often on roads, etc. This co only raised $3M & is in a tier 2 city (Bhopal) not known for tech. Very impressive.
@nikillinit I think that’s a possible factor! Also probably makes it easier to target wider mainstream adoption if you get more name brands on your financial side versus in potential litigation.
