just wanted to come on here this evening and speak from the heart. This past month has honestly broken me in ways I can’t even explain. Behind the scenes, I’ve been working every single day trying to hold this charity together , supporting emergency cases, fixing accounts, helping my team, answering messages, and trying to make sure the dogs still get fed, rescued, warm and safe. But on Tuesday evening, I lost my Mum. And the truth is… I haven’t even had time to grieve. The charity still needs me 24/7. The dogs still need us. The messages don’t stop. The bills don’t stop. The suffering on the streets doesn’t stop. And somehow, through tears and exhaustion, I’ve kept typing, kept fighting, kept going because giving up simply isn’t an option when innocent souls rely on you. To make things harder, I’ve also caught Covid and it’s completely knocked me sideways, but I’m still here doing everything I can. I will try to stay active over the weekend and update everyone as much as possible, but from next week I need to take a little time out. I need to grieve my Mum. I need to be with my children. I need to breathe for a moment because I am running on empty. Thankfully, I have the most incredible team around me and I know they will continue keeping everything going while I step back for a short while. To every single person who supports us ,thank you. Truly. Your kindness keeps this charity alive during some of the darkest moments imaginable. Today was a very humbling day for all of us at Dogs on the Streets. Firstly, I want to say a huge thank you to @Marion1Garnett for inviting us back again this year to the Animal Fair in Ealing . Your support truly means so much to our small charity. I’d also like to apologise to anyone who listened to my talk today… yes, I did end up in tears. The reason is simple , I care deeply about this charity and the dogs & humans we help, and right now we are facing an extreme financial crisis. When you are passionate about something like this, your day doesn’t end at 5pm. It’s 24/7. It’s sleepless nights, constant worry, and many tears. Some days I feel like I’m failing the very dogs we are trying so hard to help . The thought that we might have to close keeps me awake at night. We are a very small charity run by volunteers, and currently we have 81 dogs in our care across two sanctuaries. Every penny we raise goes directly to the dogs, which means we simply don’t have the financial resources to employ staff to help with things like fundraising or grant applications. I am mentally and physically exhausted, and if I’m honest, I probably spend 70% of my day crying right now. But what keeps us going are the dogs and the incredible people who came to speak to me after the talk today. Your kindness and support meant more than I can ever explain. You brought the tears again, but this time they were tears of gratitude. Right now we need help more than ever. If anyone has ideas for fundraising, experience with grant applications, or time to volunteer and support our small team, please reach out to us. Your support could make the difference between us continuing our work… or having to close our doors. The saddest thought I had while leaving the Animal Fair today was that we might not be back next year 🧡
