me, experiencing fatigue, hair loss, skin issues, and brain fog doctor in the US: you’re getting older, try going on birth control and taking antidepressants, that’ll be $200 :) doctor in Chile: your blood work shows multiple vitamin deficiencies causing your hormones to go wack, let’s get that fixed. $10 please
@holaivory The worst part of such doctor's visit is when you realize that the doctor doesn't know as much as you do about your problem and possible solutions to it. You'd expect a guru and you get google searching trainee. Still asking high price for telling you the obvious.
@adam_klodowski So true. Honestly Reddit deep dives have helped me more than any doc appointment lol
@holaivory @adam_klodowski Reddit: where anyone could lie, but nobody has an incentive to lie American doctors: where nobody is supposed to lie, but everybody has incentive to
@holaivory @adam_klodowski Right?! Weirdly, I got my best & most helpful advice for my severe UC from multiple FB groups on the topic. So much so, that I’ve been in remission for over a year. Traditional docs told me I’d be on Entyvio (my insurance denied it) or Humira (I myself said nope) 4ever. *WRONG!
@holaivory @adam_klodowski Hilarious that this is where we are in American society.. Reddit!! Sweet!!
@holaivory @adam_klodowski This. Reddit helped me figure out I had endometriosis and the tests to ask for. Had a laparoscopy and it changed my life.
@holaivory @adam_klodowski Same lol Especially for things that are not "respected" like migraines and such
