me, experiencing fatigue, hair loss, skin issues, and brain fog doctor in the US: you’re getting older, try going on birth control and taking antidepressants, that’ll be $200 :) doctor in Chile: your blood work shows multiple vitamin deficiencies causing your hormones to go wack, let’s get that fixed. $10 please
@holaivory The worst part of such doctor's visit is when you realize that the doctor doesn't know as much as you do about your problem and possible solutions to it. You'd expect a guru and you get google searching trainee. Still asking high price for telling you the obvious.
@adam_klodowski So true. Honestly Reddit deep dives have helped me more than any doc appointment lol
@adam_klodowski @holaivory Then don't go.🤷🏼 Worked awesome for Steve Jobs!
For me, doctors are service centers that take on tasks I can't do at home or you'd better not do at home. I usually know the problem in more detail than the doctor before me. A friend of mine is a doctor, and I know how he studied the material and how bad the training is where he works. And with AI, this problem will arise even further, not only with doctors.
@adam_klodowski @holaivory I get told to lose weight and exercise more. I’m 53 & maybe 15-20 lbs over weight. A size 10. My resting heart rate runs 111-130. I have a ⬆️5.9 rbc and low TSH. Oh, and sugar in my urine. He sent me home with zero suggestions/medications/referrals. I feel like shit 24 hrs a day
@adam_klodowski @holaivory I’ve had to diagnose many issues. It’s worse at VA because they don’t want to diagnose you for a service connected issue that you can apply for disability for
@adam_klodowski @holaivory I had a kidney transplant a few years ago and at an appointment, I asked my doc a question and she just went to Google. I don’t want to be her patient anymore…
@adam_klodowski @holaivory Woah it’s like we don’t know every single thing on earth. Stick to doctor google then
