@sa_gibson @scalzi "Making it up" is all it *ever* does. That's all it can do. The surprise is that creating text that fits the textual flow very often creates text that replicates truths about the real world when interpreted by a human; however, all it's ever doing is completing the text.

@UrsulaV The thing I can't figure out is: what's his angle? Does this run increase his future earning potential on the washed-up conservative speaking circuit? Is there a way to grift donations into personal money, or money to friends? Is he bored with not enough to do at home?

I am also confused as to how you read "do not bring your ancient polluting car *into* our city" as "you may not leave the city you live in".

I cannot find within that anything that would hint at restriction of movement; I can find an explicit re-affirming of the UDHR which has freedom of movement as article 13.

@QueerlyAutistic To give up her voice for whatever reason, Ariel signed a contract, right? IIRC, she's got a pretty practiced signature, so can likely read and write. Evidence elsewhere says that the language above and below the sea is the same. So why on land did she never grab paper and pen?

@Mysisila @krubner @louern @caitlinmoriah @MPAVictoria I don't believe they have stated this, because I can't find this said anywhere by the WEF. Could you link me to where the WEF says this? If, as you say, they "openly state all of this", this should be an easy thing for you to do.

@TrekRanks @nathan_royster @ArielleK18 I'm late listening to this episode, but at the end of the episode you ask if there were any scenes in TOS which even had significant water on set: many of the scenes in Shore Leave take place on the bank of a river, though IIRC no one ever falls in.

So, he's kind of correct: full WFH is often only 16-24 hours worth of really productive work/week. The thing he misses is that a full week of work-from-office is also only 2-3 days worth of productive work, plus unpaid commuting hours.

It’s time to admit that Remote Work doesn’t work. WFH Friday is a 4 day work week. Full WFH is a 2 day work week. Every interaction has to be scheduled, which means a lot of information-sharing doesn’t happen. Remote is a great lifestyle, not a way to build a great company.

@camsoft2000 @TinfoilTricorn @PicturesFoIder True, someone could have written it like that, but the order of operations makes the form they wrote it in unambiguous. I don't know the context here; was this from a test? If so, my guess as to why would be to deliberately test understanding of the order of operations.

@dreamingacacia @TinfoilTricorn @PicturesFoIder If you don't believe in order of operations, or think that all operations happen together left-to-right, you get 21. While you can do math that way, it's like writing in your own made-up spelling. You shouldn't expect anyone else to understand or agree that "ghoti" spells 🐠.

@amandalitman My yankee-sounding northern accent would probably also not be a great help phone banking for candidates down there either. I guess I could contribute money to local candidates if they have some way to do that, but that really feels ... idk, pointless?

@amandalitman It does piss me off, but I can't run for something locally to address it for the same reason I can't vote for something locally to address it: I can organize as hard as I want here in NJ and that isn't going to do squat about what happens in GA or FL or TX.

Pay no attention to my $181234567." (Median US household net worth is ~$120-130K, Sanders ~$530K, Musk ~$184B)

@dieworkwear So clothing was in large part a job category signifier within the company. (Also, even engineers in NYC looked slightly dressed up compared to SV engineers; part of that was the desire to be visually distinct from NYC homeless when leaving the office)

@dieworkwear I'm talking custom-fitted suits, ready to walk into Don Draper's office and be the best dressed person there. They had fashion show competitions. As walking into a Madison avenue office was something some of them literally had to do for their job, this makes sense.
