It occurs to me that #synbio + #AI/#ML has the same (if not greater) potential to be an agent of good or harm as did the expansion of nuclear energy in the 1950s. Why isn’t there more dialogue about the potential risks and safety guardrails? 🤔🧬🦠 #biosafety #biodefense
@bioinformer There should be and I’m interested in participating.
@hhlee @bioinformer Count me in! This convergence is one that I’ve been looking at for a few years since seeing firsthand the power of large data and metadata analysis on experiments themselves. That’s to say nothing of the tremendous pace of progress with GANs and LLMs in the last months.
@hhlee @bioinformer @bioinformer @hhlee @kesvelt if you all are interested to invite 1-3 more people in this field, we @BIOISAC are very happy to host a conversation on the topic!
@charlesfracchia @hhlee @kesvelt @BIOISAC I’m interested. After having worked in biodefense and microbial forensics space for almost a decade and the genome / cell line engineering space since 2006 - this is an area where I know not everyone is acting in the best interests of humanity unfortunately.
