@biggsag Have paid NYU tuition and am not a fan. But the $60k in savings here is relevant, both for what it may undermine in the student’s plea but also that it indicates that earlier years were leaner. This is why I am reluctant to "simplify" assets out of the financial aid formula.

@_akpiper If the choice is between one hour of an RA's time and one month of Claude, choose the latter. But that's not the choice. The choice is how many hours of RA time to purchase when the RA has access to Claude. The answer is much larger compared to when the RA did not have access.

@OrinKerr Grade inflation describes a change in distributions of grades over time. Students don't know more or work harder (eliminating 1 & 4). Relative performance implies no shift over time (eliminating 2). The grade compression implied by grade inflation eliminates 3.

@BoringBiz_ Going further, universities should fund their loans by securitizing them as a pool. Discounts are informative about repayment likelihood. The market offers better programs cheaper funding. Charitable foundations can provide limited guarantees, like a SIB. @BillAckman
