Absolutely life affirming Body Happy Org workshop with year 6 pupils at a school in Devon this morning. A real privilege to talk to so many amazing kids and hear their thoughtful, insightful and inspiring ideas about body image. I am this emoji right now: 🥰
Can you be inclusive if you are harming a marginalised group of people (and not listening to them)? Nope! Supporting LGBTQAI+? But only the straight sized ones? Supporting people who are neurodivergent? But only the straight sized ones? See the pattern?

Anyone who believes there are sides here do not understand that we are advocating for literally the bare minimum in care for fat people. These people are willingly upholding the systems that marginalise and oppress people, this isn’t personal. “Doing our best” it not good enough.

Everyone gets body shamed but image being called “fat” and also living in a society that prioritizes thin people having access to basic things like a Chair or a therapist that isn’t fatphobic
Books written by “o*sity experts”, fatness as a response to trauma, discussions about weight lost in group work… I was so entrenched in diet culture and full of internalised fatphobia it didn’t even register. Weight stigma is pervasive in the NHS. ED services are not immune.

This person is dumb enough to announce her violent intentions, so is anyone gonna do anything to prevent that violence from happening?
@Katy_mo @allbodiesED Controversial opinion: most people with ED need psychological intervention. It wasn’t the group workshop that really helped me recover. It was the months of therapy I got afterwards.
@bed_blog @allbodiesED I was denied care by the last NHS service for my area last week, they stated I needed "Psychological intervention" rather than ED care. I've spoken to AllBodies about some sessions so just waiting to hear back. But being told essentially "cope" by the NHS is just.. yeah hard.
@allbodiesED @bed_blog The problem is that once people have decided someone is a good person, they won’t hear a bad word against them for fear of looking foolish themselves. But no one has said they are bad people. They’re just people, who are doing some not great things & not listening to valid crits
