Basis Universal v2.0, our GPU supercompressed texture library, is now live on GitHub. This update adds full ASTC LDR and supercompressed XUASTC LDR (supporting all 14 ASTC block sizes) with Weight Grid DCT, and new real-time Analytical BC7/ETC1 encoders.

We strongly recommend you get used to the web demo before diving into the code, because it's a complex system.

Web demo instructions:
1. Select effort and quality level
2. Pick XUASTC block size (small blocks mean high quality but larger files, etc)
3. To trigger encoding, select the image you want to try

This version focuses on achieving very high quality while still being universally compressed across HDR GPUs-- a new milestone for HDR. Do you care more about small texture size in HDR? Just sit tight, we got you too, there may be something coming for you later this year. 👀
