Stonnington is reviewing their Parking Action Plan. Let them know that they need to better utilise the numerous empty parking lots along Chapel Street so that they can reallocate street space for people, not just car storage. connectstonnington.vic.gov.au/PAP
1,174 available parking spots at the 3 lots I pass on my 5 min bike ride to the shops. So @StonningtonCity why do I need to constantly risk getting doored along Chapel Street if we have this much off street parking?

@StonningtonCity And in the draft City of Stonnington budget for 2023/2024, Council is only intending to allocate $400,000 to cycling infrastructure next year—close to half of what it spent this year—with no obvious plans to increase it over the next decade:
In 2018 @StonningtonCity announced a commitment to the eventual elimination of death and serious injury from all roads within the municipality. But TAC data suggests that over that period, there were 556 injuries requiring hospitalisation and 7 fatalities, now 8.
A cyclist has died following a collision in Malvern East tonight. Emergency services were called to Darling Road just after 5.30pm after a cyclist was struck by a car. The yet to be identified man has died at the scene. Read more: police.vic.gov.au/fatal-collisio…

This is why we’re participating in the critical mass ride on 31 March. Chapel street is not safe enough for cyclists and that needs to change.
