Ergo it won’t be VCs that innovate but someone new, eg venture debt?

@paulg Yes but the graph is per capita GDP adjusted pollution. As every line is moving to the right then there is ipso facto more overall total consumption even though on an adjusted basis Europe appears to be getting more efficient.

Risk = reward, no free lunches ..... isn’t that what investing is all about. A better response might have been. “I know very little about the space, do you have other investors more knowledgeable/experienced I could talk to?

I think people are fixated on QDC (quick & dirty, cheap) conflated with social media addiction because of political timescales rather than the total cost of illness and responding appropriately

@amyrlewin @Siftedeu I think it depends on three things, the type of startup and how innovative it is, the experience the founders have and the likely funding path. The more extreme on those dimensions the more the syndicate becomes important, the less the more important the individual and chemistry

@Will_Tanner You’re hittung the key point. Sometimes lived experience is just not enough, eg the people who died in Brazil when that dam collapsed, the dam hadn’t previously collapsed ergo it won’t today. As a species we’re pretty poor at judging probabilities hence scientists are needed
