Congress expressly limited the public interest catch-all to apply only to activities “similar” to crime, terrorism and warfare. Even in 2022, elections don’t qualify.
...the proposed event contracts reference “1) unlawful activity, 2) terrorism, 3) assassination, 4) war, 5) gaming, or 6) other similar activity determined [...] to be contrary to the public interest.”
