Then he'll say the Chief Justice is compromised. Storm the Supreme Court. After that he will say the country’s President is compromised. Storm Rashtrapati Bhavan. Finally, he’ll tell the mob to storm parliament and take it over, effectively removing the prime minister from office. Then he'll tell the army chief to control the mayhem because the police has anyway lost control. And the largest democracy’s first ‘regime change’ operation would have succeeded. Fiction? 🤦🏾‍♂️ Constitutional illiteracy on Instagram is not a substitute for constitutional procedure. Modi cannot simply remove Gyanesh Kumar. The Chief Election Commissioner holds a constitutionally protected office. His removal requires a parliamentary process akin to that for a Supreme Court judge, on grounds of proved misbehaviour or incapacity. The Constitution provides a route. A motion can be initiated with 100 Lok Sabha MPs or 50 Rajya Sabha MPs. So why aren’t you asking @RahulGandhi to initiate it? If your allegations have substance, produce the evidence and pursue the procedure the Constitution provides. But, of course, that would require more than hashtags, street theatrics and manufactured outrage. And it might not serve the real agenda, would it? I see only two possibilities: A) You don’t understand the Constitution. B) You understand it perfectly well, but your objective isn’t to hold Gyanesh Kumar accountable. It is to manufacture chaos, inflame passions and push the country towards anarchy. I am genuinely aghast at how a few young people, fed a steady diet of Instagram reels wearing cloak of political education, have fallen for this game. If you have evidence, invoke the constitutional process. If you have none, stop selling agitation as accountability. A democracy is governed by the Constitution, not by the decibel level of a mob. And the truly tragic part? Some are too busy cheering the political spectacle to realise they are being used in it.

There is something deeply ironic about this story. Arfat Sheikh reportedly left India, sought asylum in the United States and made a film partly out of fear that Indian authorities might act against him for work critical of India. Now it is not India that has detained him. It is US immigration authorities. DHS says Sheikh overstayed his visa and that a pending asylum application does not itself confer legal status. His supporters dispute the implications and say he was authorised to live and work in the US while his case remained pending. Whatever happens legally, perhaps there is a lesson here. It is easy to portray India as uniquely oppressive from the comfort of the West. Then you discover that Western countries have borders, immigration laws and national interests too.

My question : Does my right to work, study and conduct business become subordinate to the CJP’s or the Oppositions right to protest? Article 19(1)(a) protects expression, 19(1)(b) peaceful assembly and 19(1)(g) the right to practise a profession or carry on a trade or business. But Articles 19(2), 19(3) and 19(6) expressly permit reasonable restrictions on these respective rights. In Amit Sahni v. Commissioner of Police (2020), the Supreme Court held that public ways cannot be occupied indefinitely for protests. The critical issue is the greater public good. A democracy must protect dissent, but it must also protect the rights and interests of the wider public. The rights of one group cannot automatically trump those of everyone else. The right to protest is fundamental. It is not unfettered. Should the greater good of society not matter as much as the right of a group to protest? Would really appreciate if you are able to point this out on the debate(s).

More than 70% of Indians have never seen an SIR in motion before this one. So, naturally, what is supposed to be a routine exercise looks suspicious, unusual, and unnecessary. Abhi tak to nahin hota tha. Exactly why it should happen regularly. A routine skipped for so long will arouse suspicion. The same may happen with the Census, because the plan is to collect more data, and many will wonder whether it's counting or another conspiracy.
