Vaccine skepticism is one of the biggest contributors to the spread of the illness, as people often use fake vaccination markings. Eradication efforts are also hampered by deadly militant attacks on eradication teams.
Parents and caregivers must remain extremely vigilant & give their children repeated doses of polio vaccine. Repeated immunizations have protected millions of children from polio, allowing the world to become polio-free, except the 2 endemic countries of Pakistan and Afghanistan
The work of community mobilisers is invaluable in raising awareness & building trust in the polio vaccine - the first critical step to reaching every child. We remain deeply grateful for the heroic efforts of our vaccination heroes to build a @PolioFreeWorld @Foreverychild.
Immunizing every child is the most effective way to guard against a polio outbreak. Due to its sustained high coverage of oral polio vaccines, the rest of world has almost controlled over polio virus, except few countries which are still struggling due to its poor policies.

It is important for policymakers and organizations to carry out routine immunization programs and conduct 'catch up' initiatives to cover those who may have missed out on immunizations.
The drive to rid the polio affected region from polio virus is taking place as the specific region suffers from an economic paralysis & a widespread humanitarian crisis, which threatens most of the region's millions of population.
Immunization workers need to have access to every household across the Polio affected territory. Lack of awareness about Polio Virus & how to protect children against it remains one of the main problem.
Covid_19 has taught everyone that virulent virus can travel swift across geographies, which is why the world must guard its hard_earned immunity against polio as stringently as possible. We need to ensure if our children's are safe from this seemingly dormant threat.

There are hundreds of thousands 'missing children' who are susceptible to Polio & must be vaccinated. Their parents are refusing for them to receive vaccines for various reasons. They're not easy to find as they don't go to school & have no official record (Birth certificate etc)

68 years ago today, Dr. Jonas Salk announced the successful creation of a polio vaccine and a mass vaccination campaign soon took place. Since 1979, not a single case of polio has originated in the U.S. These times are just as urgent. May we learn from this collective effort.
