You're screaming Fu¢k David Hundeyin' but this man did the following; 1. Blew the whistle on illegal Chinese loan apps exploiting West Africans. The same China you're now defending him against. 2. Exposed Tinubu's drug lord past and forged documents BEFORE he became your president. You had the receipts. You still voted or stayed silent. 3. Investigated Flutterwave's fraud when everyone was calling it a pride of Africa. He was right. 4. Used cellular geolocation to solve Hiny Umoren's murder case. He exposed what the police were covering up and proved complicity. A woman got justice because of him. 5. Exposed Globacom's abuse of Indian workers. India's PM personally wrote him a letter. INDIA'S PM. 6. Exposed a dangerous bill the Nigerian government tried to sneak through during COVID lockdown. Won the People Journalism Prize for Africa. 7. Published a leaked military order that would have sent Nigerian soldiers to die in Niger. You called it treason. He called it journalism. This man @DavidHundeyin had to flee Nigeria and apply for asylum in Ghana because telling the truth made him a target. You don't have to agree with every geopolitical take he makes. But calling him a fo°l while benefiting from everything he uncovered? That's the real foolishness here 🤝.
In 1992, Bayo Onanuga wrote a cover story in the African Concord that triggered Babangida in ways no one had seen at the time. He was told to apologize to IBB, but he refused and called Babangida’s bluff. Rather than back down, he resigned with his colleagues resigned, and they founded TheNEWs in 1993. Idowu Obasa, Dapo Olorunyomi (later editor of Premium Times), Babafemi Ojudu (later a senator), Sani Kabir, Kunle Ajibade, and Seye Kehinde (later founder of City People Magazine). What happened after would make a very interesting movie.
In the midst of the rot that aches the heart of those who genuinely care about Nigeria, I want to celebrate a fellow compatriot- Barrister Mike Igini. Mike Igini was part of the many years of @inecnigeria Reforms. I believe he joined INEC in 2010 as a Resident Electoral Commissioner and was known as a person of strong moral construction and professional integrity who resisted political pressure and bribery attempts during elections. Stories recount political actors trying unsuccessfully to influence his decisions, and he reportedly replying that his job was to “count votes, not money.” I enjoyed his interview on @channelstv with @seunokin last night and with the @ARISEtv team this morning as he made the strongest case yet for a clause that makes real time electronic transmission of results into IREV from the polling unit mandatory. If Democracy and Good Governance mattered to our politicians, Barrister Mike Igini, an outstanding former Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) @inecnigeria would have long led that beleaguered institution. He would have built up citizens’ trust and confidence in the institution after the catastrophic 2023 elections. Why do you think the lawmakers of @nassnigeria are trenchantly opposed to Transparency in our elections? They detest the idea of people with Character, Competence and Capacity like Mike Igini ever taking over institutions of Governance in the 3 Arms of Government. Nigerian politicians want the country to keep sinking for as long as they are okay. A selfish lot that do not care about even their own personal Next Generation who would ultimately fall into penury as their parents’ corrupted wealth will surely make themselves wings and fly away according to the Bible. We must never lose hope that Nigeria will surely Become. Grateful to fellow citizens like Barrister Mike Igini. There are still many Good Ones like him among us. ✍🏾✍🏾✍🏾
This lady said there’s no single MRI machine in Ilorin. This is why that's an emergency waiting to happen.
@the_beardedsina Anyone who has had to deal with FMC Jabi in recent times will know that that facility is just as terribly run as anyone says that they are. The entire place is a mess, if you care to consider what quality healthcare should be. But this Nigeria, so… as you were.
So, I grew up in total poverty in a farming town in southern Texas. By a lucky chance I was able to attend university. The first week on campus I set foot in the student library, and what followed was one of the most transformative experiences of my life. (thread)
Imagine being at a university like Harvard or Oxford and using AI to think and write. The whole world is unpaywalled to you. The world's most beautiful and well stocked libraries are open to you. What a waste.
This makes sense… when you’re dealing with your person, reaction and aggression aren’t the first go to…
Half of all food produced in Nigeria every year doesn't make it off the farm because of simple issues like lack of rural roads for quick evacuation, and lack of storage and refrigeration equipment. Question: So if you want to DOUBLE the amount of food available in Nigerian markets every year and drastically cut food inflation, what should you invest in? Answer by Bill Gates-funded idiots: "Genetically modified seeds." In addition to be being greedy, grasping, worthless people, you people are also VERY STUPID and I will be here to always remind you that you lack neural activity upstairs. You have to be a different kind of stupid to not see and understand where you problem actually lies, just because a white man wafted some dollars under your nose.
Don't know who this is, but I know what he is saying Someone knew the exam was flawed but kept silent Who knew and when?
Gen Z might not mention her often, but Aṣa was the first Headies Next Rated winner before it became what it is today. To feel her impact, listen to “Jailer,” “Bibanke,” “Fire on the Mountain,” and “Eye Adaba.” Even after 18 years, no artist has matched the depth and message in her music. While today’s artists chase trends, Aṣa’s music has always been about substance. No drama, no gimmicks, just timeless music with intention. Despite the spotlight-seeking culture in Nigeria, Aṣa’s legacy stands as a reminder of true artistry.#mixofusng

I just read the dissenting judgment delivered by Justice Helen Ogunwumiju, JSC, in Sunday Jackson v. State. By refusing to affirm the execution of a man who lawfully defended himself from an armed herdsman, she upheld the constitutional right to life and safeguarded the integrity of Nigeria’s criminal jurisprudence. (1)
I remember when….. Never mind joor Let me preemptively answer 1. Ethiopia has a large population with no oil 2. Libya has no central government 3. Zambia has high inflation 4. South Sudan is also perceived to be corrupt 5. India has a high population 6. Rwanda has an ethnic civil war 7. Uganda has nepotism 8. Guyana has crude oil 9. Philippines has Japa 10. Niger has poor infrastructure So why are their economy growing faster than population and 234 is not? Which excuse have I missed?
Last time I was away, I met up with a friend I hadn't seen in quite a long time. In her 30s, quite successful, single. So later on I offered to link her up with a few buddies. But I said, they may not be as successful yet. She said, "I want an earning man. Not a moneyed man".
I believe Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. Not because of anything she has said or done, but because of Godswill Akpabio’s brutish reaction and her well-oiled bullying by the senate and its president’s lackeys. No matter who you are, if a woman accuses you of sexual harassment, there’s only one way to go if you’re innocent: create the conditions for independent investigation of the allegation, knowing the only possible outcome is your exoneration. Again, only if you’re innocent. Her coup-like excommunication from the senate and the latest attempt by her ‘constituents’ to recall her inadvertently expose a desperate, despicable plan to shush her rather than establish the veracity of her claims. Everyone knows there are no Nigerian constituents with the time, finance, single-mindedness or effrontery to organically institute a recall process against a lawmaker for “misconduct”. The tomfoolery should stop already! How many thieving lawmakers have faced a recall for pillaging our commonwealth at our collective expense? Everyone knows, even if not many would admit it, that someone — personally or by proxy — is the instigator-in-chief of this recall attempt. And how can that not be Akpabio, the uncommonly corrupt former governor who stole N108bn from Akwa Ibom State (according to the EFCC), attempted to arm-twist the commission into submission via the courts but failed, only to then deviously defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), following which the case fizzled into oblivion while he himself subsequently transmogrified into Nigeria’s third most powerful official? The relentless politically-coordinated attacks on Natasha have all the trappings of ‘maradonic’ moves with which Akpabio pulled himself out of that EFCC rabbit hole and to the helm of Nigeria’s upper chamber. There are no two ways about it: the more Akpabio fights Natasha, the more he implicitly convinces us of his culpability. The more he fights, the more he dirties his already-soiled apparel, the more we think ‘he did it’!
While still agonizing over the ongoing deterioration of democracy in our nation, especially with the situation in Rivers State, and trying to reach out to our National Assembly members not to support and sustain the unconstitutionality and arbitrariness, I just heard that they have added salt to injury by using a voice vote to pass the illegality . The Constitution is clear that this cannot be done through a voice vote but by calling individuals to answer 'yes' or 'no.' You cannot determine a two-thirds majority by a voice vote. While a two-thirds majority is crucial, it does not justify bypassing proper procedures and undermining the principles of transparency and accountability. The use of a voice vote in such a significant decision not only disregards constitutional requirements but also erodes public trust in the democratic process as well as the transparency and integrity of the National Assembly . Decisions of such magnitude must be made with integrity, following the letter and spirit of the law. It is disheartening that a decision as crucial as approving an emergency proclamation — one that could alter the course of the nation — has been handled with such casual disregard for constitutional standards. The 1999 Constitution of Nigeria (as amended) clearly requires that such a proclamation must be approved by at least two-thirds of all members of each House — the Senate and the House of Representatives. A simple call of "Aye" or "Nay" cannot accurately measure this crucial threshold. When a supermajority is required, it demands a recorded vote — whether by division, roll call, or electronic means. This isn't just a technicality; it's a matter of law and legitimacy. The Senate Standing Orders and House Rules were established to ensure that decisions of this magnitude are made transparently, with accountability. Ignoring these procedures is not just an oversight; it is a betrayal of the democratic process. A voice vote for such a critical matter is not just insufficient; it's a dangerous precedent. If we can bend the rules so easily, what stops us from undermining other pillars of democracy? Today, it's a voice vote on a state of emergency — tomorrow, it could be a voice vote on citizens' fundamental rights. It is painful to think that members of the National Assembly, who swore to uphold the Constitution, could participate in a process that sidesteps the very essence of due process. We must ask ourselves: If the law no longer anchors our decisions, then what does? This is not just a flawed procedure; it is a warning signal. We cannot afford to keep gambling with the soul of our democracy. -PO
Growing up, every time my grandmother came for Omugwo, it was interesting to watch her talk to herself in tiny whispers for hours. I asked my father recently about it, and he said "she was made to watch as my father was shot multiple times by the Nigerian Army."
The day I get to meet Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie I’ll ask her what happened to Kainene in Half of a Yellow Sun. I still can’t get over it.
