I don't know what's going to happen to CAD software. But Claude Code downloaded Python and OpenCascade and just designed what I wanted on its own. Probably nothing.

@richgrov Literally none! I asked Claude to design it using OSH Cut's MCP, and it just took care of it and gave me a link to order the parts. It downloaded and used Python and OpenCascade.

@CR4163R Yes, that's the most amazing part. In fact, it designed the coping cuts wrong, in a way that the tube laser couldn't handle (extreme cut angles). Our APIs flagged the issue, and it *correctly* figured out how to model the coping cuts so it'd just go together. Mind blowing.
I use FSD every single day, I love it, am deeply impressed by it, and I agree 100%. It's not ready to drive people that can't supervise it.

@MFG_SMB Main issue is that great financials attract competitors. People are smart and motivated.
I know of one shop that landed in this range. Fewer than 8 people, $2M laser that cuts super fast, owned building, only takes large production jobs for big OEMs. So it's definitely possible. But I suspect that such opportunities are few and have limited lifetime. 1) They'll struggle to scale while retaining the amazing figures. Growth adds overhead, which will erode margins (management and compliance, sales, more square footage, etc.) 2) If all you have to do is buy a 20 kW laser to replicate this model, someone else will do it and put downward pressure on prices.
