Depression is not ‘the ordinary difficulties of life’. Depression kills. Lose someone you love to suicide & tell me again you ghouls how depression is the ordinary difficulties of life. Fuck off fuck off fuck off,
I don’t see it as a big vs small venues, I think we are all in it together. I’m sorry Gary felt he had to resign, I personally like him and everyone is entitled to make a mistake. Hopefully @TheCoopLive now come to the table with a positive approach. nme.com/news/music/man…

This tax relief is important for theatres and orchestras and I fully support them getting it. But it is incredibly elitist. The terms of it make no sense at all when the UK’s contemporary musicians cannot afford to tour for exactly the same reasons of cost.

More and more grass root venues are closing. Mega profits in the industry but lands in the hands of the few. Crazy that we can spend 2 billion on a lightbulb in Las Vegas, pay CEO 100s of millions while the average professional artist makes 14k and has nowhere to perform.

Discussion on #r4today on the possibility @hmtreasury is considering cuts to Business Tax. We don’t need Business Taxes cut. We need Business Rate Relief maintained at 75% or, better, expanded to 100%. The Business Rates system is a threat to 1000s of viable businesses
As a result of the Home Secretary’s actions and statements there is little doubt at all that there will be trouble in London on Saturday. The far right are organising to ensure they deliver her wish for it.

With what appears to have been an assist from Farage and Sunak, the GB News owners hedge fund has reportedly cashed by in betting against NatWest. This requires an urgent investigation so we can find out what has happened. So do reports of Truss and Kwarteng reportedly having…

There has been much discussion about the likely failure of Thames Water in the last day or so. I’ve been looking at the accounts of England’s water companies for the last twenty years. My conclusion is that they are all environmentally insolvent. So, a thread…..
Dear #billyNoMates Please don’t stop performing. The grassroots music venue community loves you, respects you and wants to see and support your work. You’ll always have a home with us.

Every word of this is right. Fighting to be allowed to do what they’ve been doing for 32 years. Embarrassing for Manchester to be put in this position by its own council, multiple opportunities to resolve this without legal escalation missed. Tiring and demoralising.
