I was 15 when I was severely bullied and went on to develop psychosis due to that trauma. I didn’t think I’d make it to this point but today I am in Switzerland celebrating my 34th birthday! Today I am a doctor by PhD Psychology and do research to help those with mental illness.

The story is more how he, as an NHS psychiatrist, could have possibly considered over at least the past decade that support for the NHS was consistent with being a Conservative MP. Like a deathbed conversion, changing parties in the face of electoral oblivion just looks cynical.

Dylan & me are heartbroken by news that Simon, his beloved dad, has metastatic cancer. We don’t know what ‘now’ or ‘the future’ looks like. We are in pieces, but we are surrounded by love; I have no idea how to do the next few weeks & months.
Today we had the awful news that Simon’s @A37Gnome life expectancy following his cancer diagnosis is very poor. Telling Dylan that his dad has a small number of months to live was devastating, but I am so proud of him, he is struggling but so so brave. 1/2
Difficult morning with Dylan but we did get him into school which I’m taking as a win today 🙌 Riding the waves of anger & frustration & fear is so bloody hard for his 13 year old muddled head & he’s still so young in so many ways. Linking with @winstonswish today. Fuck cancer ❤️
Very special day for Simon & Dylan as they go to their last #Spirites match today - @ChesterfieldFC have made it as accessible as possible and it is breaking my heart today that Simon won’t be using his season ticket with Dylan after today #ParentalBereavement #Loss ⚽️💔
3/3 If 1am is the time he needs to have those questions answered then that’s ok. I’m going to ask some questions about teenage support at Oncology on Tues for how I should prepare him as well as whether they actually advise hospice or home if there’s a child. #FuckCancer
2/3 He is adamant Simon is staying here to die. We have started to talk about how Simon might be asleep for a few days before he dies & that there are sometimes strange noises, but he won’t be in any pain & even in hospice we can choose (if we have a choice) to be there or not.
TW - dying: Dylan (13 now) has been coming into my bed at night, that seems to be where he can ask questions - why can’t they just take the tumours out; why can’t Dad just have a liver & lung transplant; what is dying going to look like? 1/3
2/2 Hopefully tomo, Simon has a stent put in to🤞ease the jaundice a little. I’m led to believe Fortisips are ‘not awful’ & we are blessed that a little bit of morphine is managing Simon’s pain well. Me & Dylan are taking a bit of time today to be peaceful together ❤️ #FuckCancer
Can’t believe we are ‘only’ 3 weeks post diagnosis. It feels so so much longer. I cannot praise our GP & the multitude of people we’ve seen at @royalhospital who have been utterly brilliant, every single one of them. 1/2
2/2 (I think my tears might have had nothing to do with the Xbox or the new TV). Dylan said 2 things: - ‘Be OK, we’ll just learn how to do stuff together’ - ‘Look at these kitten videos on TikTok’ This made me cry some more (he seriously needs to stop breaking TV’s though 🤯)
So we had mega tears last night, mostly mine. Dylan broke his TV (same accident as last time, *2 weeks* ago) so I lost it about not being careful & then he cried & I cried because I don’t know how to put his new TV in or how to set his Xbox up downstairs & Simon is in CRH …1/2
Simon was given 20% chance of getting a stent into the bile duct to reduce jaundice & hopefully give him a bit more energy. The stent is *IN* & I am thanking all the thoughts, prayers & surgeons🤞 1 day at a time but this might have a really good quality of life effect🤞
Dad’s home is an entirely foreign space to me. On a wall full of photos of his wife’s children and grandchildren, my sister and I do not appear. We have spent so much of our lives being erased from the family story. And/but we still come - we garden, we make tea, we hold hands.
