Being high functioning & having ‘insight’ is all well and good until no one realises how much you’re struggling because you’re smiling, turning up everyday and afraid to tell anyone the truth.
@JessLMatthews96 People don’t care. Trust me. They’re selfish
@JessLMatthews96 It's tough when others don't see the pain behind the smile.
@JessLMatthews96 @Canadiangal74 My daughter didn't like the phrase high functioning because she was rarely that. We refer to her days as high help needs or low help needs. We try to leave a lot of recovery and rest time on high needs day.♥️
@JessLMatthews96 Yup, always told I do really well to do what I do. Doesn't mean the voices aren't giving me h***, and I don't feel safe. 😔
@JessLMatthews96 @finding_hope_2 Yup, I totally hear this x
@JessLMatthews96 Yes very true, I hate being like I am an try to pretend I'm ok but a lot of the time I'm not. I've always been good at putting on a front, even from my family
@JessLMatthews96 This!! And also, when professionals say ‘you have really good insight’ I find it invalidating bc I may have good insight but doesn’t mean I can’t struggle. It makes the battle in my brain worse x
