It is a shame that his own experience didn't extend to sympathy for others whose mental health was affected by Robodebt and other cruel policies, although robodebt was pre-covid. I don't think he is a natually empathetic person.
Also - increasing medicare rebates to cover more psychology sessions during covid, although that was rolled back I believe.
I'm no Scott Morrison fan, but surely anyone can see that being away from your family during Covid, while also being ultimately responsible for the country's covid response, would have been extremely stressful. There were a number of things done right, like lockdown payments.
@DrNeenaJha No governing body. Nurses work within our framework of competency, because we're fearful of the NMC and loss of our PIN. Also our training tells us what our boundaries are, and we only extend our roles after additional training.
@DrNeenaJha What frightens me is how so many PAs seem truly unaware of their inadequacies and regard diagnosis as some kind of game. Patients, unlike video games, can't be reset and a wrong diagnosis or treatment can so easily be life changing or life limiting. Their attitude is bizarre.
@DrNeenaJha An ANP today summed this up perfectly. She said they get to do what they think encompasses being a dr but they have overlooked the >80% of the dr’s role that is actually clinical reasoning. They can’t do that without the knowledge and experience.
The thing that I find most confusing about PAs.. As doctors it’s drummed into us to NEVER act outside our competency. We’re acutely aware of our limits & terrified of the consequences if we don’t With PAs it seems opposite?! Why are they so flippant about wanting more scope…
