I get those being pissed about it, and I absolutely get it. I wasn’t a fan. HOWEVER, if there’s ANY position that any team would love to lock up over the next 10 years, QB is absolutely at the top of the list. They loved Penix, saw their chance, then took it.
Again, I was shocked and I absolutely wouldn’t have done it that way. I’m a Penix fan, but how they did that was questionable. That’s MY opinion on it. Wasn’t a fan of the move, but I understood the desire to stabilize the QB room for the present and future.
If Michael Penix Jr. becomes a star QB in three years, you won't care where he was drafted or that you had to wait. If he doesn't work out, the people who picked him are likely fired unless the situation is similar to SF.
