With a Geo-Replicated Azure SQL DB that is already replicated with ALLOW_CONNECTIONS = ALL, is there a way to alter the replica to ALLOW_CONNECTIONS = NO after it is already setup without a drop and recreate? #sqlhelp

If Azure managed disks are already encrypted at rest by default, would it be overkill to also enable TDE on our IaaS databases using those same managed disks? azure.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/azu… #sqlhelp

@YetAnotherSQL Wouldn't necessarily know. Just using the listener the readonly traffic would route to the active readable secondary at that time. We'd need some kind of job to run some basic logic (IF current server = primary then disable login; if current server = secondary then enable login).

#sqlhelp Trying to create a login with ONLY access to a database on a readable secondary. I create login on both primary and secondary, deny connect on primary. Connect with readonly intent, and get login failed. verified RO routing is working without DENY connect on primary.

@YetAnotherSQL Just connecting to the listener with ApplicationIntent=ReadOnly. We were hoping we could go this route and just disable the login on the primary server, so user is ONLY ever able to query the readable secondary.

@SQLTrooper Thanks. I think we are leaning towards just using sp_WhoIsactive just like you say, but since it is in Azure SQL DB, db mail doesn't exist. We are trying to figure out whether to schedule with a remote SQL Agent job, or something like Azure automation.
