I've worked in healthcare for almost 20 years. I've seen many practices lose a ton money because the billing staff was inexperienced or lazy. One less thing for DPC practices to be concerned with.

Physicians being able to dispense meds to their patients at the point of care makes sense in 45 other states. Texas physicians are fighting for the ability to do so. buff.ly/31Wssbl

Insurance networks don't get you access to healthcare services. They get you access to discounts. If you want to see a front desk employee squirm, tell them you don't have insurance and ask them for a cash price. buff.ly/2NfZsb9

@DutchRojas I asked for a cash price for an ultrasound. My insurance was already on file. I was told I had insurance and did not need the cash price. I insisted, and she reluctantly gave it to me. She then said, "But if you have insurance, it is illegal for you to pay this cash price." 🤦‍♀️

Transformation in healthcare should only be limited by our imaginations. Individuals, governmental structures, processes and traditions cannot limit how we think about caring for patients throughout their lives. If we can dream it, we can do it. That's the fundamental mind shift.

In spite of the efforts of the insurance industry to eliminate DPC as a competitor to their business model, Florida signed into law protections affirming DPC is a direct contract and not a form of insurance. buff.ly/2ZFg5yx

A survey conducted by the Physicians Foundation found that doctors are profoundly dissatisfied. 79% is largely due to regulations and paperwork, and 55% is from the erosion of the patient-physician relationship.
